Self-Confidence is something we have buckets of when we’re younger, so why is it that as we get a bit older it seems to vanish?

Well, if you’ve lost a bit of your confidence for one reason or another, you can improve it, and we're here to help. The first step is realizing you want to increase your self-confidence. Which is probably how you’ve found your way to this post! Let’s get started then shall we..

1.       Dress in what makes you feel good. Wearing clothes that you love will in return make you feel great, which then makes you feel more confident!

2.       Remind yourself of your achievements so far. We often forget about all of the great things we’ve already done, and only focus on what needs to be done; but reminding yourself of how amazing you are will give you a great confidence boost.

3.       Do one thing that scares/makes you anxious every day. I know, this one is dreaded by everyone because no one wants to face their fears! When we say do something that you’re scared of every day, we don’t mean go sky diving or anything crazy like that; it can be something as small as saying hello to someone new or putting forward an idea to your work colleagues.

4.       Set yourself small goals. Be realistic, if you’ve got a huge goal that you don’t think you’ll ever achieve, set yourself smaller goals on the road to get there. As you achieve the smaller goals you’ll start to feel a lot more confident in your own abilities to make it to that so called ‘unrealistic goal’.

5.       Look after yourself. A little self-care goes a long way, especially after a hard day. It can help you recharge and feel good about yourself. And remember, self-care is not selfish.

6.       Learn to say no when you need to. It can be easy to fall into the trap of saying yes to everything that is asked of you because you fear people will think less of you. But sometimes you need to put yourself first, and learning to say no every now and again will slowly make you more confident and you’ll have time for the things you need to do, for you.

7.       Be prepared. This may seem like an everyday thing for some of you, but if it isn’t already, here’s how being prepared for the day can help you out. By preparing in advance you stop worrying about whether you’ve forgotten what you need for the day, you know what you’ve got along with you and know what you’ve got to do. In other words, if you were taking an exam, you’d do revision beforehand so you’re more confident, so you can pass the test; so try applying that to everyday life!

8.       If all else fails, fake it till you make it. You might think, how can faking being confident make me confident? Well by doing this often, it gradually makes you more confident and before you know it, you’ll realise that you’re no longer faking it!

So that’s it for these tips on how you can improve your self-confidence one small step at a time, and just in case you’re thinking you’ll never be confident: YOU CAN DO IT!

Now that you’ve read that, go take care of yourself so you’re ready to tackle the day! As for us, we’re off to go eat some chocolate for a bit of self-care, then we’ll get on with the day ahead. If you try out these tips let us know, and if you have any tips that work for you let us know so we can add them to the list!

Have a great day everyone,
