Employment Support

People with mental health challenges may want some support help to find meaningful employment. There are a range of locally funded schemes by the Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough County Council.

CPFT Individual Placement Support - The service helps people with mental health problems to find and sustain paid employment. The evidence-based approach was developed in the USA in the 1990s and is now used across the world, while international clinical trials have confirmed its effectiveness. The service offers:

    • A confidential, individualised service to suit your needs
    • Emphasis on finding the right paid work for you, based on what you want to do and how many hours
    • Meet on a regular basis with a member of the service
    • Develop a personalised action plan
    • Help writing your CV, covering letters and applications
    • Help you to search for appropriate jobs quickly.
    • Help to prepare prior to attending interviews. • Close collaboration with your mental health professionals, to make sure your health and work goals are joined up and that plans are in place to help you when you are in work
    • Help you to access benefits advice
    • Links with local services and employers
    • Continued support when you are in work for you and your employer.
